The Sea Treasures Set — exclusive to the Shepherd / Oyster Bay store!

This one has been rolling around in my head for a while, along with the various prims and textures.  I’m not much of a “pink” person, but this one… this one I knew it just had to be. Oh the hell with it, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, right?

This will also be sold as individual pieces –  but ONLY in the Oyster Bay store for right now.

Yep — the title says it all! I am on a rollllllll! I have — ohhh, let’s see — 8 new designs fresh out now, and 4 new jewelry sets — and I have two special designs I’m working on just for Christmas (and your loved ones!)

Now first — inspired by my friend Isolde… and a few variations of it, too… these are available ONLY in the Oyster Bay/Shepherd store!

Next, inspired by my friend Erik — I’m a little late for Gay Pride Month (or really early, depending upon your point of view) — but I am proud of my friend. He asked for a gay pride piece, and even pushed me a bit on it. I’m proud of what I created, and I hope those of you who buy it will be just as proud to wear it! Available at Oyster Bay/Shepherd, Vancouver, Venice.

We also have a new pair of earrings to offer — the “Karen” earrings, to go with the “Karen” necklace that I’ve made earlier this year.

Just a note about the “Karen” and “Laura” pieces. They aren’t big sellers, I think because they are VERY simple in lines and very clean textures. Maybe people think it isn’t flashy enough. Ladies, buy either the Karen or Laura necklaces. If you are NOT happy with it, after wearing it for a day or two, then I will refund your money!

And finally — we now have GIFT BOXES! I have decorated a beautiful box for the holidays, made to put your Jordan*s gift in it. When you give it to the recipient, and they rez and touch it, it will poof snowflakes and put the gift in their inventory. Very reasonably priced at L$100.

And finally, my four new gift sets — the Isabella and Elizabeth necklaces with accompanying emerald or sapphire bracelets and earrings.

This week a friend from Second Life asked me for a donation to a charity auction for Arts for Autism.  I love doing stuff like this and I really wanted to help this worthy cause with something unique, custom, but it was a busy week and wasn’t sure if I could fit it all in, as I already had a lot of commitments inworld, in addition to a large commissioned request. Anyway, I was high up on my supersecret (lol) platform and listening to my music streaming in, getting into the groove and feeling creative. I originally wanted to make a puzzle piece pendant, as the organization uses a puzzle piece as a logo, and I thought it would look cool… but prims and time being limited I couldn’t quite come up with something I liked.. so I went into a different direction… and this is whatI came up with…

So this is my contribution to the Arts for Autism auction being held Saturday at noon at Jazzwerks, its a piece I’m proud of and it’s special. I really put myself into it.

Shortly after I finished Jordan*s Hope, I was contacted by a woman who requested I do a custom piece for her.  “Sure,” I said… “what would you like, and when would you like it?”

“I’d like a female symbol being torn apart,” she says.  And a quick turnaround is requested.

gulp.

“How quick?”

“Ten minutes”

My eyes pop out of my head and start to freak out a little.  Then I remember my classes at Career Institute of Fashion and Design.  My teachers were tough taskmasters! I could do this!  its just like another assignment!

I look around my very messy work area, looking for the little prims I would need to create such a piece.  Still having the stream on, I get lost in the music and put the old brain into gear, troubleshooting creatively… trying to get things small enough and proportionate…

Clock keeps ticking.

I think about why would this woman  ask for such a piece? It’s a very personal request, it seems. I ponder this as I push prims together, cut, rotate, texture, check my reference pictures… she seemed sad. It seemed like a sad request. My heart went out for her and I felt like I was the right woman for this job. There couldn’t be another one who could relate to her like I could, and manifest it physically. Lots of stuff happening in my slife and rlife.

Twenty minutes later…

I teleport the customer to my platform, after showing her pictures of the progress, and ask her to put it on.

She tps in, her avatar even has a broken demeanor.

We talk a little, and as she puts the necklace on, I realize a really coincidental parallel.

The customer’s name?

Hope.

Wow! What an incredible evening and fabulous time we had last night at Oyster Bay, where CYLINDRIAN RUTABAGA performed!

Many many MANY thanks to Morris Vig and Isolde Flamand for the awesome hosting and public relations abilities — they are a well oiled PR machine, those two!

And, finally, what can we say about Cylindrian?? Her performance was magical — it really suited the waterfront venue — she’s just like having warm homemade apple pie on a chilly evening, she makes you feel that strongly.

OK I’m working like a fiend in Second Life to get some new pieces done for Wednesday’s concert . . . now I just hope you guys show up and take a look at the new pieces. I truly hope you all like them!

 Hi all! I ususally try to get at least one piece every two weeks done, and out into the shop to keep things fresh and build up my inventory.  That’s an important thing to do when having a retail shop in Second Life, I’ve learned.  Now out at both the Oyster Bay main store, and in the Vancouver shop, is the newest creation, called “Chi”. “Chi” is the Japanese word for “balance” — something that I feel this design strongly represents to me. Take away one element in it, and it is way out of whack, but together, it is a strongly balanced piece.  It looks very delicate when worn, which I was very surprised and pleased to find when I first put it on. I loved it right away, and I hope you all do too!

Currently offered in a women’s necklace, I plan on retexturing this for a more masculine look, and offer it also in a choker. I should get to that sometime this week, after the Cylindrian concert (Wednesday, October 17, 6 pm at Oyster Bay) that Jordan*s is sponsoring.  I am also hoping to get a freebie or two done for the show.  PLEASE tell your friends about it, and I am also hoping the my friends come out and enjoy the music that Cylindrian has to offer.  Her voice is melodic, like fine crystal, and she is one of the best acoustic performers I have ever been privileged to see in Second Life… please come out and enjoy!

I am so happy to sponsor a performance by Cylindrian Rutabaga this month at Oyster Bay. If you’re not aware of it, the main store in Shepherd is *part* of the Oyster Bay Sculpture Garden and Aquarium run by my friend Morris Vig. One of the reasons I decided to make my main store at Oyster Bay is that I feel my jewelry is not just a retail thing, it’s “art” to me… and I really wanted to be in an artistic venue. I feel very lucky to be at Oyster Bay — it is a very special place in Second Life. If you haven’t walked around to the other shops or observed and appreciated all the incredible sculptures located on the grounds, please do so!

Don’t miss the performance by Cylindrian! She’ll be performing on the Oyster Bay stage on October 17th at 6 pm SLT. She is one of my favorite live performers, her voice is like fine crystal, her music comfortable and folksy, and the sim is going to be PACKED, so arrive early, you guys! (haha, as if there are so many people viewing this blog I just started 30 minutes ago!)

This is my newest creation — The Keaira Necklace! This, like all of my jewelry, can be customized if you just IM me! Sleek metals and glowing gems in the spider shape really reminded me of my friend in Second Life, Keaira… if she ever gets her computer back in order she might be inworld to enjoy it some!

Anyway, I am hoping you all like it… it is one of my favorites, so far! I was really worried with the prim limits that the piece would wind up being too big — and so far, I don’t think it is.  I’m also working on a men’s version but there is just something off about it, and until I figure it out, it stays in the design bin…

I just wanted to start this blog rolling — this is to give you guys a headsup on new designs, specials, events and stuff. Thanks for checking it out and come back periodically — I can’t promise to be a mad blogger but I’ll try my best to keep it informative and “not boring,” lol!

I just wanted to touch base on a couple things you may not know… I can customize ANY piece, and its very inexpensive to do so… figure about L$50.  All you have to do is IM me, we’ll get together and I’ll take your piece and change out the metal textures or gems or whatever you like… So if you like one of my designs but wish it were available in rubies instead of sapphires — IT IS! All you have to do is ask!  IM Jordan Morgenrote (that’s me!) and I’m more than happy to do this!
